Cooperation with Chile

In May 2009, the VSNU signed an agreement for cooperation with the Chilean Ministry of Education and the Chilean National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research (CONICYT), adding the Dutch research universities to the Chilean ‘national scholarship and human capital development programme’, administered by BECAS CHILE. The agreement aims at implementing a scholarship programme for Chilean Master and PhD students to study in the Netherlands. Moreover, it aims at enabling postdocs to spend up to two years doing research in the Netherlands.

Moreover, the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science signed Memorandum of Understanding with the Chilean Ministry of Education. 

A majority of Dutch research universities have already or are currently negotiating contracts with Becas Chile. Leiden University has already concluded an agreement with CONICYT and the Chilean Ministry of Education. The universities of Wageningen, Groningen and Tilburg are about to sign an agreement, and the universities of Nijmegen (Radboud), Twente, Eindhoven and Rotterdam (Erasmus) are currently investigating the possibilities for cooperation.
