- In May, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations launched new Scholarship Schemes
In its efforts to strengthen the academic and intellectual exchange between India and the Netherland, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) has established the following scholarship schemes:
- Junior Fellowship – for PhD and Post Doctoral Research scholars who are keen to carry out field work research activities on India in connection with their existing projects.
- Academic Visitor Programme (AVP) – under which reputed academicians will be invited to visit India for a period of 7-10 days.
- Study visits by Indian scholars abroad – for Indian scholars seeking to pursue attachments with universities in the Netherlands for field research.

- On May 17, a delegation of Indian universities led by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) visited the Netherlands. Click here to read more.
- In June 2010, The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and Leiden University signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of a Long-Term Chair for the study of Contemporary India at Leiden University, starting in September 2011.
The Chair will be assigned for a period of two years under the aegis of the Leiden University Faculty of Humanities. During his/her term, the Chair will contribute to the academic life of the University by engaging in teaching, research and mentoring at various levels.
