Platform MDG Profs

The platform "MDG Profs", dedicated to the Millenium Development Goals (MDG), was founded by the VSNU, the Council of Institutes for Postgraduate International Education in the Netherlands (SAIL), the Platform for International Education (PIE), the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) and its division for scientific research on development issues (WOTRO), the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and the Dutch ministries of foreign affairs, of agriculture, nature and food quality, and of education, culture and science. The platform seeks to bring forth joint activities and a common vision on the sharing of knowledge and the fostering of knowledge networks between North and South. In 2007, the members of the platform signed the so-called Schokland-agreement in which they confirm and emphasise their commitment to achieving the millenium development goals. In 2008, the platform was granted funding by the Schokland-trust for a project on intellectual property rights and innovation for the millenium development goals.
The secretariat of the platform lies with the VSNU and WOTRO, the science division of the Netherlands organisation for scientific research (NWO) dedicated to scientific research on development issues.
