Due to the recent introduction of the Bachelor-Master-structure, there is limited data available on study success in the Bachelor cycle. Figures are, however, available for the 2002 cohort (all those Bachelor students who registered for their first year in 2002). Of those students who did not stop after the first year, 45.1% graduated within four years. Female students are faster than male students: 57.3% of female students graduated within four years compared to 33.4% of male students.
In the 2002 cohort, 8.9% of students stopped after their first year, that is, did not register for their second year at a Dutch university (about 70% of them transferred to a university of applied sciences). Of those who stayed on, 8.7% left university during the following three years without a degree.
The following figures concern students who were registered at a Dutch research university on 1 october 2008. Registration is for one study per student, parallel studies are not counted.
