Vacancy portal for academics now also promoted internationally

AcademicTransfer (www.academictransfer.org) - that is the name of the joint vacancy portal of Dutch research universities, university hospitals and research institutions, set up in 1997. According to Director Jeroen Sparla, the portal is a huge national and international success.

"We consistently feature around six to seven hundred academic vacancies, which are viewed by more than 100,000 visitors per month. Thirty percent of these visitors are from outside of the Netherlands. There is no other medium that enjoys this wide a reach.”

This year, AcademicTransfer has started to significantly expand its activities. “We now offer the profit sector the opportunity to advertise academic vacancies. We also promote our range of vacancies in the Netherlands internationally. To this end we are building up partnerships with organisations in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Belgium and Germany.”

AcademicTransfer now also assists its members in the joint recruitment of personnel abroad. “At the beginning of 2008, we made arrangements for the Netherlands to take part in the Boston Career Fair. Six universities, hospitals and research institutions took part and all made a large number of relevant new contacts. It was so successful that it looks like almost everyone will be taking part in 2009. We will soon be attending the Source Event organised by the journal ‘Nature’ in London. This is another excellent opportunity for us to promote the Dutch research universities internationally."
