Annual Student Research Conference

First Student Research Conference in the Netherlands

On the 14th and 15th of October the spotlight is set on undergraduate research. The first Student Research Conference (SRC) is aimed at promoting undergraduate research and to provide an impression of the wide variety of student research projects. Students get the opportunity to present their own research in front of a large audience.

The best research

A program committee, consisting of professors from nearly all Dutch research universities, has reviewed all submitted research proposals. The 60 best researchprojects will be presented at the SRC, either as workshops or as poster presentations. In both categories a winner will be chosen. The Student Research Award will be given to the student with the best workshop. The Award for best Poster goes to the student with the most memorable poster. For the latter, visitors of the SRC can vote for their favourite.

Prof. Wubbo Ockels is the keynote speaker of the first day of the SRC. "There still is so much progress needed - it is excellent that students are involved in this process. It is their future too." What kind of research?

'Solar Cookers for Africa', 'Aggression against ambulance staff' and 'The threat to the Icelandic identity following the financial crisis' are all examples of undergraduate research. Many more topics have been researched by bachelor students. It does not matter whether the research entailed experiments, data collection, interpretation, model making or rethinking existing theories. An important criteria is the social relevance of the research.

Prof. Naomi Ellemers will be the keynote speaker of the second day of the SRC. In her speech she will discuss the moral behaviour of the researcher Prof. Naomi Ellemers will be the keynote speaker of the second day of the SRC. In her speech she will discuss the moral behaviour of the researcher
