Radboud University was founded in Nijmegen, the oldest city in the Netherlands, in 1923. Many consider the Nijmegen campus with its modern buildings located on a former country estate the greenest and most beautiful in the Netherlands. The University is a closely knit community. Social life, personal contacts and mutual cooperation on campus are important.
Research and education at Radboud University cover a wide range of humanities, social science, natural sciences and medical disciplines. From both national and international perspectives, one of Radboud University’s strong points is its interdisciplinary research and education. The interdisciplinary field of cognitive and neurosciences, which in Nijmegen is tied to research on linguistics, is one of the highlights. Interdisciplinary research on the axis from molecule to man is performed in the institute for Molecules and Materials, closely cooperating with the institute for the Molecular Life Sciences. It extends from molecular design and synthesis and preclinical testing to diagnostics and treatment.
Apart from well-equipped study facilities and lecture rooms, advanced laboratories and equipment, automated libraries and computer networks, Radboud University boasts its own techno campus. The techno campus, where top class experimental techniques are combined, accomodates various facilities, including a High Field Magnet Laboratory (HFML), one of only four of the strongest in the world, a Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Laboratory (NMRL), a Trace Gas Laboratory (TGL), and the NanoLab Nijmegen, a unique centre for high-resolution spectroscopy of functional molecules and materials.
