The Dutch research universities have manifold ties with Chile, and many of them cooperate with Becas Chile (see this site). The Dutch research universities welcome Chilean students!
English is the prevalent language of instruction and research in the Dutch research universities. The language requirements differ from university to university. For study programmes in English, an IELTS or comparable test score of at least 5 is required for a preparatory year of six to twelve months, at least 5.5 for a preparatory year shorter than six months, and at least 6 for the Bachelor and Master level.
All Dutch research universities provide assistance for international students, helping to arrange visa, housing, etc. For more information, consult the websites of the universities (see list below) and the website of the Netherlands organisation for international cooperation in higher education (Nuffic).
The Dutch research universities are also an excellent choice for doing a PhD. PhD students are given four years to complete a PhD. Support and supervision are organised within graduate schools, whilst research schools provide links with the same discipline at other universities. More information can be found on the VSNU website and in the Nuffic leaflet Obtaining a PhD 2010/11.
Eight representatives of four Dutch universities including the responsible person of the Dutch organization for international cooperation in higher education (Nuffic) visited Chile last week.
