Pension: What will you choose?

Digital broadcast about pensions for all university employees

Pensions are subject to change. Everyone who accrues pension rights is faced with individual choices that will influence the accrual of their pension. Although pensionable age may seem a long way off to many employees, these decisions are of vital importance. During the webinar entitled 'Pensions: What will you choose?', experts explained the choices and the changes to the pension scheme. The live webinar was conducted on 10 February and can be viewed here.

It is important to the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU) that all 50,000 university employees are well informed about the pension scheme and their choices in relation to the accrual of pension rights. The experts who participated in the webinar were Prof. Theo Nijman, Dr Roel Mehlkopf, Jacqueline van de Laar (pension expert at APG) and Jan Boersma (executive officer of education and research at the FNV's government office).

The topics addressed were the various options open to employees, such as the partner plus pension and annuities. For example, employees can choose to voluntarily accrue extra pension rights. The webinar also provided information about investments and pension indexation.
