Shanghai rankings: two Dutch research universities in the top 100

In the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, two Dutch research universities are among the top 100 universities of the world: the University of Utrecht, at 52nd place, and Leiden University, at 72nd place. Seven more Dutch research universities are among the top 200 universities, and another three in the top 500.
The ARWU Rankings are based primarily on research output measured in terms of Nobel prizes, publications and research indeces.
