Roelfien Folkersma (b. 1973) is one of the VSNU’s departmental assistants. She studied Musicology at Utrecht University and spent a number of years studying singing at the conservatory. Roelfien previously worked as a communications officer and editor at SGBO, the former research and consultancy firm of the Association of Netherlands Municipalities.
Her contributions at the VSNU have included supporting the campaign team in the run-up to the 2012 Dutch House of Representatives elections. This was a collaborative effort between the VSNU and its knowledge partners the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), the Confederation of Netherlands Industry and Employers (VNO-NCW), the Dutch Federation of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MKB-Nederland), the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO), the Netherlands Association of Universities of Applied Sciences (HBO-raad) and the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) . Roelfien uses her editing background to ensure that newsletters, correspondence and meeting documents are in tip-top shape before being distributed. In her free time she serves as board secretary of ProJazz, an organisation that aims to breathe new life into the jazz scene in The Hague.
