Marieke Oomen (b. 1995) is employed as a policy adviser at VSNU, where she started out in the Finance and Research & Valorisation departments. Another higher education theme she is well acquainted with is internationalisation, thanks to her work as chair of ESN-Rotterdam (committee year 2017-2018) and a job in the International Office at Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR).
Marieke studied economics and philosophy at Erasmus, in addition to spending six months at the University of Technology in Sydney. Since going on exchange to Australia, her main focus shifted to development issues in the Netherlands and abroad. This led to her doing a minor in development studies at the ISS in The Hague, followed by a Master's in International Economics at EUR. The latter involved research in Peru (2019) and a work placement with the Dutch embassy in Kenya (2020).
